Whilst some village halls are quite used to holding wedding receptions, there are many that are not. The vintage wedding theme and the trend for smaller, more intimate wedding receptions is still going strong in 2018. This is good news for community buildings.
Why not work with your committee to see if you can offer additional services and facilities to help couples planning their wedding? Things that you can provide include a dedicated wedding coordinator; somebody to look after the bride and groom in the run up to the wedding, and who is there to answer questions.
An additional chargeable service could be a wedding planner for the day, to be on hand to meet caterers, florists and suppliers. They can oversee the day and ensure that no damage is caused to the hall.
Another way to maximise income is to offer a clean-up and packing service, as the last thing some newlyweds want to do is be up at the crack of dawn clearing up from the night before. It would not be unreasonable to look at charging anything from £200 upwards for the service. All of this could be beautifully put together as a bridal package.
Just hosting 2-3 weddings each year can provide a profitable revenue stream for your hall.
